It is that moment when deep inside, you know that you are fighting a losing battle,
And yet you don’t want to give up.
It is that moment when you so wish for a miracle to happen,
But somewhere you know miracles happen only in fairy tales.
It is that moment when you pull together all your experience and knowledge,
But you have to accept that you are only human and some things are beyond your control.
It is that moment when you watch a precious life slipping away,
But you don’t want to accede to your helplessness.
It is that moment when you feel the pain of a mother and you deeply wish to support her in every way,
But you also know that her eyes may perceive you as the culprit.
It is that moment when you go numb and have to pretend to be detached,
Because the pain of the family comes before your own grief.
It is that moment when you know that there will be many a sleepless nights,
And this will keep coming back to you for a long long time.
It is that moment when you know that you will not be able to function if you don’t move on today,
For there are others who need your help and care.
It is in that moment that you make a silent prayer,
Hoping that someone up there may hear.
And you gather your strength and pull yourself together,
Because you cannot give up and you have to keep trying your best,
For tomorrow is always a different day.
