Kokilaben was 60 years old when he underwent a laparoscopic mini gastric bypass. Her weight was 118 kg at the time of surgery. She was suffering from severe breathlessness and sleep apnoea. She also had severe knee joint pains and had been advised to undergo a knee replacement surgery. Her surgery was performed in 2014 and she lost 55 kg after the surgery.
