Patient Testimonial: Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery In Mumbai, India

Best Laparoscopic Mini Gastric Bypass Surgery, Omega Loop Bypass in Mumbai, India by Dr Aparna Govil Bhasker

My weight was 118 kg and I was suffering from severe knee pain. I was barely able to walk and would get breathless even after 2 to 3 steps. I was dependent on my family for everything and the future looked scary. The orthopaedic doctor had asked me to lose weight before he could perform a knee replacement surgery. I underwent a laparoscopic mini gastric bypass surgery in 2014 by Dr. Aparna Govil Bhasker. My son knew her for many years and was fully convinced that she was the right doctor for me. I lost 58 kg after the surgery. It has been 4.5 years and I am still maintaining a healthy weight of 63 kg. I am able to walk long distances. I visit my village very often now and take care of all the work there. Best part is that now I don’t feel dependent on anyone. I am enjoying my life now.

In a Laparoscopic mini gastric bypass, a long narrow stomach pouch is created using surgical staplers. A 150 to 200 cm loop of small intestine is then taken and attached to the stomach pouch in a loop fashion. The food comes into the stomach pouch and flows directly into the distal small intestine. It bypasses the remaining stomach and the first part of small intestine.
